How to 3D design A Plastic Bottle in SelfCAD

To make any remarkable 3D model, you should, in particular, pick a 3D modeling software to use in your undertakings. After determining the correct 3D modeling software, you would then start learning its tools and other elements. In this tutorial article, we're showing how you can design a plastic bottle in SelfCAD. We picked SelfCAD as it's easier to learn, and you don't need to have insight into 3D modeling to have the choice to use it.

Is it correct that you are keen on learning 3D designing? Fear not. SelfCAD is here to mitigate your concerns. So, let’s start with a simple article, for instance, a plastic bottle!

Step1: Add a Reference Image

First, we will use a reference image and add an image to the working interface of SelfCAD. Reduce the opacity to 62.

Change to top view.

Step2: Trace Half of The Body of The Bottle Using a 3D Sketch

Then go to 3D sketch and select line sketch to trace the straight lines of the reference image. Change into the precision setting and select the minimum angle step before tracing. Draw a line through the mid-axis of the image.

Then uncheck the minimum angle step. Now, start tracing the image.

Use the 2-point arc to trace the curved lines in the image.

Now using these two sketches, trace half the body of the reference image.

Step3: Trace Half of The cap of the bottle

Uncheck the profile that we created now. Then we will trace half of the cap in the same procedure.

Now uncheck this profile after tracing.

Step4: Add a Central Line And a Circle To The Handle

Then add a line through the central axis of the handle of the bottle.

Adding a central line and circle to the design

Add a circle which has a diameter equal to the width of the handle.

Step 5: Turn The Image Into a 3D Model Using The Revolve Option

Now, select profile_9, go to tools, and select revolve option. Uncheck the hide all objects option and select revolve around edge option. Choose the central line as the edge and it will be converted into a 3D model.

Now uncheck the newly created profile. Revolve the cap of the bottle in the same manner as we revolved the body of the bottle.

Step 6: Use Follow Path To Convert The Handle Into a 3D Model

Next, we will go to tools and select follow path tool. We will use this tool to convert the handle into a 3D model. Click on the circle first. Then click on the line, and hence the handle will be converted.

Step 7: Edit The Top of The Handle To Make it Look More Professional

We can edit this. We will opt for polygon selection and choose the exterior circular face of the handle. Then we will use the scale tool to scale this face figure.

Now we will go to modify and use the extrusion tool to extrude it to the point which is the last point of the reference image.

So, we have created this 3D solid object.

Step 8: Move The Objects To Set Them in Order

Select the cap of the bottle and use the move tool to move it towards the center of the body of the bottle.

We will also select the handle of the bottle and place it accordingly.

Step 9: Rotate The 3D Model

Next, select all the 3D objects and use the rotate tool to rotate them along the red axis in 270 degrees.

Conclusion

We have 3D designed the plastic bottle with various tools of SelfCAD. It is amazing to 3D design an object that may be nearly negligible, huge, or complex. You can likewise use a comparable technique to 3D design other 3D objects of your choice. Hence, we believe you observe the tutorial article as helpful and interesting.
