How to 3D Design a Stamp in a 3D modeling Software

3D designing a 3D Stamp Model in a 3D design Software

3D designing involves a variety of elements, features, and tools. But, it won’t be a hassle when you have the right tool with you. In this guide, we are going to use SelfCAD software to create a 3D Stamp Model. A stamp is a most common object used to print a specific word, sign, or logo. Most stamps are made up of wood and base of rubber, also of plastic. So, let’s begin!

 I chose SelfCAD as it’s easier to use and you don’t need any previous experience in 3D modeling to be able to use it. To 3D design the stamp, we will use the various tools of SelfCAD like Image to 3D, Basic 3D Shapes, and many more. Learning how to use some of these tools will be of great help to you when creating any design. For example, learning how to use the Image to 3D tool will help you instantly turn any 2D image into a 3D object.
Step 1: Creating a Stamp Print

Activate Image to 3D: Click Image to 3D on the Toolbar or use a shortcut (I+3). Next, click on Select the Image to load a new image. The following window will pop up to load the image, upload the image you want to create the model.

We have selected the image that is Approved as we need to create a stamp of Approved. The Image to 2D enables the conversion of the image into a basic 3D shape.

We will modify it according to our needs. Next, Set the Parameters: Set Resolution to 250, Tolerance to 0.1, Amount to 4, Flip Background to True, Simplify to True. Finalize the Image to 3D.

As in the above image, we modified the shape. 

Step 2: Modifying and Placing the Print correctly.

Activate Scale: Choose the Scale Tool from the Toolbar or use a shortcut (S). Let’s set the Parameters: Set the Proportion to True, set y to 30. Close the Transformation Panel. 

Activate Rotate: Click on Rotate from the Toolbar or use shortcut ®. Set X to 90 and close the Transformation Panel.

We have Rotated the Shape. Here there was a gap between model and base.

Next Activate Move: Click on Move from the Toolbar or use shortcut (M). Set y to 0, and close the Transformation Panel. With Move, we will settle the shape. 

Step 3: Smoothing the Edges.

Next, Activate Polygon Selection: Click on Activate Polygon Selection or use a shortcut (Ctrl+4). Next, we will select the region. 

Activate the Edge Selection or use a shortcut (Ctrl+2).

The region selected appears in mustard colors as we have selected the Edges to modify them and smoothen them.

Activate Fillet: From the Modify Category on the toolbar, choose Fillet or use shortcut (M+F).

Now in parameters: Set Intensity to 0.1, Level to 3. Finalize the Fillet.

Fillet smoothness the edges. 

We are done with Base Stamp Print. Now we will create the Stamp Model. 

Step 4: Creating the Stamp

Activate the Cylinder: From the 3D Shape Category of the toolbar, choose the Cylinder or use shortcut (P+Y).

Set the Parameters: Set Top Radius to 19, Bottom Radius to 19, Height to 3, Position Y to 1. 

Finalize the Cylinder. We have created the stamp base shape.

Click on Selection Setting to change the selection settings. Set the Loop selection to the True in Panel. Next, we will select the Edge of shape to choose the Loop from the object.

Click on edges to select them. Done with top cylinder edges and next to bottom edges of the cylinder.

Close the Transformation Panel.

We have already selected the Edges; now, the selection will remain until we turn it off. 

Step 5: Smoothing the base of Stamp

Next, we will smoothen the selected Edges. Select the Fillet tool from Modify Category from Toolbar or use the shortcut (M+F).

Set Intensity to 1, Level to 4 in the tool panel.

Close the Transformation Panel.

We are done with the base. Next, create the stamp top by creating a new object.

Step 6: Creating the Stamp Handle

Activate the Cylinder: From the 3D Shape Category of the toolbar, choose the Cylinder or use shortcut (P+Y). 

Set the Parameters: Set Top Radius to 8, Bottom Radius to 4, Height to 40, Position Y to 4. 

Finalize the Cylinder.

We created the cylinder shape and now we will modify it. 

Activate the Sphere: Click the 3D shape category in the toolbar or use a shortcut (P+S). 

Set Radius to 8, Position Y to 36. Finalize the Shere.

Activate the Object Selection: Click on the highlighted part on the selection cube or use a shortcut (Ctrl+0) to turn off the region selection.  

Next, in Top Toolbar, select the option Edit; choose the option Select All or use shortcut (Ctrl+A) to select All.

Step 7: Activate Stitch and Scoop

Activate Stitch & Scoop tool on the Toolbar or use shortcut (B). In the tool, the panel chooses Union or uses the shortcut (B+U).

Finalize the Union. This is to combine all the objects created in one.

We are done with creating the stamp model.

This is how it looks from the bottom. Also, now you can color the Stamp. You can also color the stamp with different colors before combining it. 

Conclusion:

We have successfully created a 3D stamp model using SelfCAD. Creating Stamp with a print at the bottom was easy and interesting.
