How to 3D Model a Phone in SelfCAD

3D Designing is becoming popular among many industries and professionals. With 3D designing, one can make 3D models that can be utilized to envision authentic articles. In this article, we are 3D designing a phone in SelfCAD. In the event that you have not attempted it yet, SelfCAD is one of the most straightforward yet professional 3D designing program for users of all levels. Starting with arranging the Cube shape, we will transform it with tools like Scale, fillet, add details, etc. SelfCAD is one of the most astounding 3D Modeling Software, including different features to arrange the 3D Objects.

So, let’s get started.

Step1: Inserting a reference image

First, we will insert a reference image. For that, go to view and select the reference image. Set the opacity to 43 and change the view to the top view.

Step2: Inserting a cube to make the body of the phone

Let us now design the body of the phone. So,  go to 3D shapes and insert a cube on the reference image.

Now, select the wireframe option. And we will scale the cube using the scale tool. Scale vertically and horizontally in such a way that the edges of the cubes coincide with the edges of the reference image.

Then change into the right view and scale the cube in the green axis, vertically downward.

After that, change into mesh+wireframe option.

Step3: Adding minute details to the phone

Next, go to modify and select the fillet tool. Then change the intensity and level to 10 each.

Adding more details to the 3D model

Now, we will add some detailing to the 3D model. For that, go to modify and select add details. Then set it to edge and check on the automatic loop finding. Change the view to the top view and select the wireframe option. Then add horizontal lines one by one, according to their interaction with the buttons of the phone shown in the reference image.

Then add vertical lines in the same manner as we do now.

Step4: Adding volume to the buttons and screen

Next, we will use the face selection option and select the faces that resemble the buttons and screen of the phone.

Now go to modify and select the inset tool. Set the amount to 2.

Next, we will go to modify again and select the extrusion tool to give volume to the selected face. Extrude them slightly vertically upward.

Step5: Creating the tower of the phone

Now we will create the tower of the phone. Go to 3D shapes and select the cylinder object.

Then use the rotate tool and rotate it along the red axis in 270 degrees.

Now, use the scale tool and scale the cylinder to the size as shown in the reference image. Next, move the object to the top using the move tool

We will now use face selection and choose the top circular face of the cylinder. Go to deform and select the inflate tool.  Then inflate it along the blue axis.

Step6: Adding smoothness to the 3D model

Next, go to modify and select the round object tool to add smoothness to the 3D model. Set the smoothness to 3.

Now, select both the profiles, go to stitch and scoop and make them a union.

Conclusion

We have finally managed to 3D design a simple 3D phone in SelfCAD. After you are done 3D modeling, you can then add color of you choice as shown below.

3D modeling characters isn't complicated. You essentially need to have the fitting tools with you. We've sorted out smart ways to make a simple phone using the fillet tool and various tools of SelfCAD. You can figure this out easily as well. Furthermore, you can play with the available tools and even use the same to strategy to create your own designs.
