How Veterinary Sciences Professor used 3D modeling & animation to teach biology

Chile-based Veterinary Sciences Professor & SelfCAD Ambassador, Francisco López Eldredge  showcases in his research article  how he makes use of 3D modeling and animation to teach biology subjects. He opens the paper with the challenges of developing innovative teaching strategies for Gen Z college students, known to be digital natives who prove to be more resistant to traditional learning materials (books, lectures, presentations, etc.).

In his mission to increase class engagement and assist the virtual classroom experience brought about by the pandemic, Professor Eldredge started using SelfCAD to design 3D models.

The introduction of 3D models to  92 students has proven to be highly satisfactory. There is an agreement that the use of these models should be extended to other parts of the curriculum.

This brief study shows that leveraging 3D technology to teach STEM and for higher education produces positive results and naturally leads to the next questionwhat could be the benefits of applying such pedagogical techniques on an even larger scale?

The methodology, indicators of success, and other relevant details are explained in full detail by Professor Eldredge in his publication.
