How to Use the Loft Tool in SelfCAD

Using the Loft Tool in SelfCAD
SelfCAD is a powerful, easy-to-use 3D modeling software that allows you to create your designs and even prepare them for 3D printing. One of the most useful features of SelfCAD is the Loft tool, which allows you to create complex 3D shapes by lofting 2D profiles. In this section, we want to see how you can create profiles and then use the Loft tool to create the shapes following the path chosen.
Creating the Profiles
We are using the sketch tools to sketch the profiles. Go to the Drawing category on the toolbar and select the 3D Sketch tool.
On the various options given by the 3D Sketch, select the Circle Sketch. Set the Offset to 0. Sketch the circle at the center, to form profile 1, as shown below:
Set the Offset again to 25 and use the mouse to draw the circle at the center again as shown below, to form Profile 2.
When you tilt the camera, you will observe that the profiles are lining upwards, as you adjust the parameters set on the Offset as shown below:
Repeat that process of sketching the circle, and setting the Offset to 60, 160, 165, 225, 230, 280, 325, 380, 385, and 405:
Observing from the sides, you notice that the circles, which are our profiles, are arranged vertically as shown below:
Using the Loft Tool
Select all the profiles that were sketched.
Then go to the toolbar on the Tools category, and select the Loft Tool.
The tool creates a shape shown below by following the path created by the profiles:
Then select all the profiles and click on Delete to do away with all of them and remain with the 3D object:
There you go, you have created an amazing 3D object using the Lott tool:
