How to Create a 3D design of a Scoop in SelfCAD

Introduction:

Scoop is the most common object used in every household. It is used to collect the swept waste. This tutorial will show you how you can 3D design a simple scoop using a 3D modeling software. We will use 3D Shapes like cubes and tools like Stitch and scoop, Extrusion, Rotate, etc. The 3D modeling software that we are going to use is SelfCAD as you can use it to 3D design objects with much ease.

This tutorial will help to learn about the tools of SelfCAD to create 3D objects with the utmost easy method. So, let’s begin!

Step 1: 3D design the Shape of Scoop

We will start with 3d designing new objects. First, we will choose the Cube from the 3D shape category (P+C). Add the parameters according to requirement. Set width to 200, height to 200, and position Y to 30. Finalize the Cube.

Step 2: Modify the 3D design of the Object

Activate Edge Selection (Ctrl+2). Select the region or use Marquee Selection that is the Right Mouse Button.

Modifying the 3D shape

We have selected the Edges of the cube. Now we will modify the Edges in our required shape. Edge selection makes it easy to choose just the edges, not the complete object. Choose Fillet from the Modify Category of Toolbar (M+F). Set Intensity to 60, Level to 10. Finalize the Fillet. Fillet is the best tool to smoothen the edges of the object.

Step 3: Create the new object

We are going to create new objects. First, we will activate the Cube (P+C).

Add the parameters according to requirement. Set width to 200, Depth height to 200, position Y to 25, Position Z to 56, Rotation X to 39. Finalize the Cube.

We’ve created the above object, but we need to modify the object.

Step 4: Modify the 3D design

Next, activate the Stitch & Scoop tool from the Toolbar (B). Select Difference from the tool panel, choose Difference (B+D). Next, Select mesh_8 in Object to Subtract. Finalize the Difference.

The Stitch and Scoop tool helps us to modify the object amazingly. We created a scoop shape with the help of Stitch and Scoop.

Step 5: Delete the face

Choose Polygon Selection (Ctrl+4). Select the Regions of the 3D model. The Edge selection just selects the edges; polygon selection helps to select just the face of the 3D object.

Selecting the section to delete

Next, click on the Delete object to delete the selected face (Del).

So we get these shapes of Scoop.

Step 6: Make the outer structure thicker

But doesn’t it look very thin? Let’s make it better and thicker. Select Add Thickness Tool: Choose Add Thickness tool in modifying category from the toolbar (M+A). Set the Thickness to 4. Finalize the Add Thickness.

Step 7: Create the handle of Scoop

Let’s 3d design the handle of the scoop. Activate the Cube. Select the Cube from the 3D shape category (P+C). Add the parameters according to requirement. Set width to 42, height to 15, position Y to 97, Position Z to -151. Finalize the Cube.

Placing the cube and positioning it in order to create handle

Next, select the Region. We will choose the end of the Cube to modify it.

Modifying the handle

With Rotate, we will give the end a slope. We will modify the slope in the following steps. Select the Rotate: Click on Rotate from Toolbar ®. Set the x to -320. Close the Transformation Panel.

Rotating the selected part

Step 8: Modify the Scoop Handle

Select Extrusion: Choose the Extrusion Tool from the Modify Category of Toolbar (M+F).  Set Extrusion amount to 30. Finalize the Extrusion. Extrusion helps to extrude the 3D model. Deselect The region, click on the part that we have selected to deselect it, or click on the grid to deselect it.

Further modification of the handle

Step 9: Create the Union object

Now again, choose the Object Selection. Click on the selection part of the cube (Ctrl+0) to turn off the region selection. Next, click on differnce_1 to select it. Select Stitch and Scoop from the toolbar (B). Next, choose the Union in the tool panel (B+U).

Finalize the Union.

Applying of the union option

We have combined the two 3D models into one.

This is our final result. We have successfully created the 3D model of a scoop! Now, you can also color the 3D model or use texture.

Conclusion:

Creating a scoop was simple. This tutorial is helpful to know the importance of basic tools like stitch and scoop. There are many more versatile features available in the SelfCAD. With the help of an Interactive Tutorial, you can create many new, complex, and interesting 3D models. SelfCAD is one of the most featured and easily accessible software to use.
