Steps of Writing a Text Along a Circular Path
In this section, we are looking at how you can use the various SelfCAD tools to create a text, and then put them in a 3D objects. This is applicable when you want to label or insert a logo in your 3D models. To begin, launch SelfCAD and then open the workspace:
Activate Freehand drawing tool from the Drawing category:
Select the Text from the tools panel:
Write the text as follows. On the Precision Settings, set the Snap option to Snap to Grid Vertices. Then click on the highlighted point:
On the Height Settings, set the Height to 10 then tick the check mark to finalize the drawing:
On the toolbar, select the Bend Tool from the Deform category. Set the Plane to Left/Right and set the Dynamic Origin to true. Set Z to 350:
Activate the Move Tool, and set X and Z to 0, then Y to 8:
Click “X” to close the transformation panel. Select Freehand tool again from the Drawing category. Select the Circle tool from the tools panel and Snap to Grid Vertices. Click on the highlighted point to draw the circle and set the radius to 60:
Set the mode to Erase and draw the circle again with the radius of 40. Tick the check mark to finalize the drawing:
Select the Round Object tool from the Modify category:

There you go, you have written text along the circular path. To make it visible you can select the parts of the former torus and you will see the text when unselected. You can use the part selection to make this kind of selection from the Polygon selection tool:
You can also give the text a different color from the Color Picker tool:
SelfCAD provides a user-friendly platform with a wide range of tools, making it ideal for writing a text along circular path. Its intuitive interface and built-in features for sculpting, modeling, and 3D printing preparation streamline the design process for both beginners and experts. After creating your 3D models, you can also use the in-built online slicer of the software to slice your files and generate the G-code to send to your 3D printer. Learn how to slice files in SelfCAD in the video below.
