How to Use SelfCAD to Make a 3D Birdhouse

3D Modeling a 3D Birdhouse in SelfCAD

One great thing about 3D modeling is that you can create designs on a computer before making them in real life. This allows you to change the design, adjust the size, and improve the shape without wasting materials. Once your model is ready, you can 3D print it, use it in animations, or build it using wood, metal, or plastic. Check out the interactive tutorial to learn how it works.

To get started, begin by opening SelfCAD workspace:

Select the cube from the 3D Shapes:

Set the parameters as shown and then tick the check mark to finalize the shape:

Activate the Face Selection on the right hand side and select the top face. Click Delete to delete the selected face:

On the tools category, select Add Thickness from the Modify category:

Set the Thickness to -3 and tick the check mark to finalize the thickness:

Select the Cylinder from the 3D Shapes and set the parameters as shown and then tick the check mark to finalize the cylinder:

Select the mesh_3 and hide it:

Activate the Face Selection, select the bottom faces and delete them:

Select the Add Thickness tool from the Modify category:

Set the Thickness to -3 and tick the check mark to finalize the thickness:

Select the cylinder and set the parameters as shown and tick the check mark to finalize it:

Select the mesh_3 and mesh_23 then select Stitch and Scoop> Difference and select the Mesh_3 to remove it:

Select the Cylinder again and set the parameters as shown:

Select all the objects and choose Union from the Stitch and Scoop:

The  birdhouse is ready and finalized by giving it material. Click on the Materials and on the Texture choose Wood and select the first one:

Tick the check mark to finalize the materials and the birdhouse is ready:
