How to 3D Design a Sticky Note Pin in SelfCAD

Today, many schools and learning spaces are using more hands-on activities to teach students. One popular way of doing this is by adding 3D modeling into lessons and creative projects. In this article, we explore how educators, students, and DIY enthusiasts can use SelfCAD, a beginner-friendly 3D modeling software, to create a sticky note pin, that is, a small, functional tool with big educational potential. To design, check out the interactive tutorial. In summary, start by launching SelfCAD and open a new project. Set your workspace dimensions to a comfortable modeling area:

The sticky note pin isn't just a classroom project. It has multiple uses and applications. In education, teachers can print sets for students to use during project-based learning. It also serves as an example of design iteration and utility-focused creation. You can also use it at home to display reminders, inspirational quotes, or kids' drawings. In Professional Settings: Keep track of important tasks or messages by pinning notes to cork boards or magnetic boards (by embedding a small magnet). If you would like to 3D print the model, you can use the built-in online slicer of SelfCAD. The video below shows how to slice STL files in SelfCAD.

Enjoy powerful modeling, rendering, and 3D printing tools without the steep learning curve.
