3D Modeling Redvine Candy in SelfCAD

SelfCAD is an easy-to-use, web-based 3D modeling software suitable for both beginners and professionals. It has tools for creating, sculpting, and rendering 3D models, making it a flexible choice for all kinds of 3D design projects such as modeling the Redvine candies. In this guide, you will learn how to create a Redvine candy by first drawing its profile, then using the Bridge tool to shape it, and finally twisting it with the Twist tool to achieve its distinctive look.

 Steps to Creating the Redvine Candy

Start by launching SelfCAD and open the workspace:

Activate the 3D Sketch from the Drawing category on the toolbar:

Select the Circle from the tools panel and select the Precision Settings. Set the Snap to Grid Vertices:

Click on the highlighted point and draw two circles with radius of 6 and 1.5 respectively. Click “X” to close the 3d sketch panel:

On the toolbar from the Tools category, select the Copy Offsets tool:

Set the operation to Pivot and Number of Copies to 5, then click on Copy button:

Click “X” to close the copy offset panel:

Select all the profiles and on the top toolbar, select Merge on the Edit menu:

Activate the Polygon Selection and select the highlighted polygons:

Click Delete to delete all the selected polygons. Use the Move Tool to move the profile a bit above the grid by setting Y to 11:

Close the transformation panel. From the Drawing category, select 3D Sketch and select Rectangle from the tools panel. Set Snap to Grid Vertices and click on the highlighted point to draw the rectangle:

After drawing the rectangle, close the panel:

On the toolbar, select Mirror tool from the Utilities category:

Set Create Copy to true, set Direction to Top, and set the Offset to 75:

Tick the check mark to finalize the Mirror. Select all the profiles and from the Tools select Bridge tool:

Set the Linear to false and then tick the check mark to finalize the Bridge:

On the toolbar from the Deform category, select the Twist tool:

Set Y to 500 and then close the transformation panel:

On the top toolbar, on the View menu select Isolate:

Set the rendering mode to Smooth. Click on the Color picker, and select the red color and click ok to confirm the color:
