How to 3D Model a Phone Speaker With Holder
SelfCAD is a flexible 3D modeling and design software that offers many tools for creating, editing, and preparing models for 3D printing. It has easy-to-use tools like Freehand Drawing, which lets users make complex shapes, and basic shapes like cubes, spheres, and cylinders that can be changed and combined to create detailed designs. SelfCAD also includes sculpting tools for refining models and advanced features like Extrude, Inset, and Offset to improve designs. You can check out the interactive tutorial to follow the process of 3D designing the phone speaker. In summary, you can start by launching SelfCAD and open the workspace:
Select a Cube from the 3D Shapes to form the basic shape:
Set the parameters of the cube as shown below:
Tick the check mark to finalize the cube. From the Modify category, select Edit Details. Click the highlighted edge and drag it to the line as shown:
Set the length to 20. Drag the edge to the line again on the other opposite side of the cube and type in 20 as the length size:
Set the Automatic Find Loops to true. Drag the edge to the line as shown:
Drag the edge to the line also on the bottom as shown and set the length to 20:
Tick the check mark to finalize Edit Details. Activate Face Selection and select the faces on the bottom of the cube as shown below. Click Extrusion and set the Amount to 35:
Tick the check mark to finalize the extrusion:
Select Capsule from the 3D Shapes:
Set the parameters, position and rotation of the Capsule as follows:
Tick the check mark to finalize the capsule. Select a cube from the 3D Shapes, set the parameters and the position as follows:
Set the rendering mode to Wireframe. Click the Scale tool and set Z to 73:
Click the “X” to finalize the transformation:
Select the main mesh and on the Modify category, select Round Object tool. Set the Amount to 4 and tick the check the mark to finalize Round Object:
Select all the objects in the workspace. On the toolbar, select Stitch and Scoop> Difference. Select capsule and the cube (mesh 15 and mesh 22) to subtract them and tick the check mark to finalize the Difference:
Select a Cylinder again from the 3D Shapes, set the parameters and the position as shown below:
Make a Copy of the cylinder. Use the Move Tool to move the copy by setting X to -28:
Select the capsule again from the 3D Shapes, set the parameters as shown:
Tick the check mark to finalize the capsule. Select all the objects, and on the toolbar, choose Stitch and Scoop>Union. Tick the check mark to finalize Union:
There you go, you have designed a phone speaker with holder:
You can then give the color of your choice to the object:
SelfCAD has a full set of tools for 3D modeling, making it useful for different projects, from simple to complex designs. This guide has explained the key steps to create a phone stand. You can try experimenting with various shapes, twists, and colors to create your own unique design or any other model you prefer.
